Essondjo - Polyphonies Pygmées, Danses Patengué, Ayanga
The Patengué Orchestra is a group of tradi-modern music of the forest peoples of eastern Cameroon.

It combines Western instruments (bass, piano, guitars) and a range of traditional instruments (balafons, drums, gara'a and Ngniass).

The group consists of Pygmies and Bantu. We always travel with materials (lianas and leaves) to build a hut on every stage where we perform.
It's part of our show. Traditionally, this is the hut in which pygmies tend to live.

A very strong element is the polyphonic singing typical of the Baka Pygmies, a hunter-gatherer people who live in the rain forest of Cameroon, Gabon and Congo, with various Bantu peasants, with whom they exchange goods. symbiosis. relationship.

Aspects of their traditional life include gathering food, hunting, fishing, music, ritual ceremonies, and night dances of forest spirits.
